Complex

One language for the whole web application: database, server and browser in one source, with a compiler that refuses unsafe code.

$ cat README.md

A normal web application is four languages that do not know each other: SQL, PHP or Node, JavaScript and HTML. Rename a column and a visitor is the first to notice the page is broken. Every boundary between those layers is handwork — an API route, a fetch, a permission check — and that is where most mistakes live.

Complex puts the whole application in one language. The compiler decides what runs where, generates the API in between, and refuses code that is unsafe. This site is the first thing running on it: every page here is a .complex file.

$ cat status.txt

Version 0.2. A lexer, a parser, a type checker with information flow control, a tree-walking interpreter and an HTTP server, written in Rust on the standard library alone. No framework, no dependencies, one binary.
